Green Lights Recycling (GLR) specializes in recycling and recovery of heavy metals and other potential hazardous constituents contained in many everyday items. For example, fluorescent lights contain mercury for their operation. The mercury becomes excited when electricity is introduced, causing illumination or visible light. GLR maintains that mercury is a naturally occurring element and is an invaluable resource for certain applications. It is also our position that using mercury is a necessary application in many items, however we encourage end-of-life recycling for these products. Recycling allows for the reclamation of the mercury. Under Minnesota Law, mercury is to be properly managed, reclaimed and stored in a permanent repository after our recycling process is performed. There can be many complexities in the life cycle of products. GLR staff has substantial, collective years of experience in the recycling and recovery operations.
One of our goals is to provide people with sound information and insight of successful process implementation and ongoing service to ensure the best possible outcomes. The practicality of our outreach program is to reduce or eliminate dissatisfaction associated with “the guess work” and provide clear outcomes that ensure regulatory compliance requirements are met by those needing to tune-up their existing recycling practices and programs. It is our goal to offer our expertise to anyone needing assistance, including initial set up procedures or fine-tuning existing recycling programs to meet the needs of today and for the future success of these recycling programs.
With our community outreach program, we offer on-site visits and tours at our Blaine, MN campus or at your trade group meetings, business location or public forums. We can provide insight into the sometimes confusing aspects of recycling efforts. Our goal is to help people achieve higher recycling rates, continued program maintenance and ultimately success with your recycling efforts.
GLR also offers a research and development system to recycle many new technologies and products as they evolve. For example, photo voltaic (solar power) systems have become a potential concern for many when it comes to disposal needs. GLR has successfully met the needs of recycling this product line after research occurred. We now offer solutions for those experiencing emerging technologies at the end of life operations for photo voltaic (solar systems).
